Epic Journey: Part 15

Fall quarter is in its final week... my first exam is tomorrow morning - 8AM... GGAAAHHHHH!!!!!! Truth be told, however, I AM excited for the class to be over so THAT's a good thing :) Another good thing is that tomorrow is Sushi Wednesday. Since it's my long day at school there will be sushi for lunch. I <3 Sushi Wednesday! I wonder if it will carry through next quarter? That'd be awesome :-9~~~

The Yellow Jackets soccer thing worked out ok. I got the pics up and about half of the families ordered prints. Was a good learning experience to say the least!

My current project is a gallery installment. I just need to write the actual proposal and get my sample images burned to disk and I can send the packet! Excited and nervous, but man, how cool would THAT be?!? Maybe my 'Lost Soles' will be found :D

The gallery project came as part of an assignment for my Creative Concepts class. For the assignment we were to come up with a concept and create a series of at least 10 images. I already had the 'Lost Soles' series so she suggested I try for that one. The series I did for the class is DRAMATICALLY different! 'Things That Go In My Mouth With Bugs On Them'. It started off rather by accident. I already had the pic of the fly on my toothbrush, then I found a bee in my house while I was enjoying a TootsiePop. That became image 2 of the series and I just went with it from there...

The other fun photo thing that has happened recently was for my birthday. My wonderful husband whisked me away for a weekend of fun and photography on South Padre Island. We got there just in time for sunrise on the beach the morning of my birthday, then spent the day playing on the dunes and eating some of the worst shrimp you'll ever find cooked by people on an island.

Here's a few of my favorite shots from the weekend -

Husband ran another of his fun obstacle races... This time it was the Spartan Race. I wasn't allowed to go past the spectator area so I didn't get any very awesome shots, but I did get windblown and rained on so that's SOMEthing I guess! Haa haaa I love my caveman <3

Ok... enough procrastination! I gotta go work on that proposal and study for tomorrow's exam...

Epic Journey: Part 14

It never fails to amaze me how fast time goes when it gets away from me... Another quarter is done. Final examinations, presentations, anticipation, exhilaration, relaxation... so many "ions"!

I learned a lot this past quarter. Many things about photography (infrared ROCKS MY LITTLE FOOTIE SOCKS!) and even a few things about myself and my goals (videography is NOT one of them). I have started another blog specifically for Kuk Sool Won™( http://ksw-mt-p.blogspot.com/2011/09/belt-testing-night-08192011.html ). I have done a couple shoots for their belt testing nights and needed a location where I could share with everyone in the pics because I haven't gotten a gallery page on my website yet that will allow the ordering of prints..... That's one of my goals is to redesign or create a new website for event photography. Especially seeing as how I was chosen to be the photographer for the yellow Jackets Youth Soccer Team? Gotta get 'em out somehow! I will work on that.

Speakin of event photography... This past weekend (October 8, 2011 in Paige. Texas) I took pictures at the Tough Mudder Competition. Check em out! (This is why I need another website! Gaaaahhh!)
